Not a Portrait

The question I’m always asking myself is “Does the drawing look like the model?” The answer most often is “No, but it was a pretty short pose! What do you expect?” Sometimes my answer is “No, but I wasn’t trying to do a portrait.” Or “No, but the model made no attempt to look like my drawing.” Finally I realized that I can just say “almost.” That covers almost any portrait shortcoming.

In my opinion, one of last night’s drawings of Harry qualified for Almost certification.  I didn’t ask anyone else to confirm that, but I’m virtually, nearly, almost certain they would agree.

Staring at Zoom: almost a portrait

Definitely not even “almost” a portrait. Just your basic naked guy holding a crooked wooden staff. Standard life-drawing stuff.
